It was Shambhala's 20th Anniversary this year and friends travelled, once again, to the farm in Salmo, BC to boogie down. This year was a roller coaster of emotions. With the forest fires only a few km away, the lingering smoke was a constant reminder that an evacuation was a very real possibility. In true festival form, revellers kept their spirits high and put their energy towards creating that magical bubble that this festival is so well known for.
This was my first time at Shambhala. After hearing many good things from friends about the experience I tried to keep my expectations in check. Well, Shambs certainly delivered. The best way I can describe it is a total immersive experience. It's like an adult wonderland where you choose your own adventure.
Lucky for us, the stages compete with each other to see what acts they can bring in, so the lineup is stacked! Each stage is specially curated to invoke a unique vibe and energy. During the afternoon you may find yourself at the Living Room stage, dipping in and out of the river to keep cool. If you want to bounce to funky beats you go to Fractal Forest... a 360 degree stage, with a light show you soon won't forget! And if you make it to morning, you can float away to euphoric sounds and take in the beauty of The Grove.
I could go on and on, but I'll let the photo's do the talking. I'd just like to send a BIG thank you to all the organizers and volunteers for their hard work. Putting on a event of this size is no small task, and given the circumstance this year, they all deserve a standing ovation. THANK YOU <3
